The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I still can't believe how disappointed I was with this book. I took it on holiday with me because so many people thought it was the perfect read for sitting by the pool - and I was bored! Seriously bored!

The story centers around journalist Mikael and security expert Lisabeth trying to solve the mystery of a disappearance. The other, parallel, plotline concerns business/finance journalism and chasing a story about a crook in the business world. That plotline bored me to bits, I must say.

The action was only vaguely interesting, the writing didn't flow, I kept hoping it would get better but it never did. I found the style simplistic too. It seems that this book was most definitely not for me - am I the only one in the world who didn't like it?? And I so wanted to read something exciting and gripping!!! :-(

I haven't read it myself, but I've heard good things. Sorry you were so let down :(

I don't think you are the only one who didn't like it, but I have heard mainly good things about it (and loved it myself). Perhaps you felt a bit like I felt with The Da Vinci Code, which, although it certainly did not bore me to bits, wasn't really all it was cracked up to be ;o)

Too bad you didn't like this. I plan to read it soon, actually...

I think yours might be the first non-glowing review of this book that I have read. It doesn't seem like one that would fascinate me, either, but sometimes an unfavorable review is just as intriguing as a positive one.

Nymeth - yeah, and I hate to be let down! :-)

Louise - I actually loved The Da Vinci code, that was a beach read too and for me it was a total page-turner.

Kailana - I'll look forward to your thoughts on it!

Charley - oh definitely, I agree, when I read a negative review I'm always intrigued, guess it's my contrary nature! :-)

You know, I've been hearing a lot about how disappointing this book is. But then again others seem to be loving this series. Not sure that is one that I'll be interested in. Sorry it didn't work for you.

Hi Trish - I do know several people who were disappointed by the writing but liked the story, so you never know!

I'm looking forward to this read. I do not like to be bored though . . . hmmmm.
