Thoughts on going back to work

Yep, that's right, today is my first day back at work following 6 weeks off due to burn out. How does it feel? Well, I'd rather be cycling in the park or reading a book on my couch, but it isn't so bad. What makes it good, even, is that I'm sure that this is the slow start of the next phase of my working life. Somewhere near is the job that is perfect for me at this point in time and I know that we are slowly moving towards each other. It's going to be great, whatever it is!

I haven't been doing much blogging while I was off, mostly because I wanted to limit my time at the computer, I spend enough time in front of a screen when I'm working. But I have been reading and will hopefully post thoughts on these books over the next days and weeks.

I started a new book today - Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. I didn't get very far though because the achingly descriptive part about foot binding made me cry and actually made me feel faint and nauseous. Talk about a strong reaction! I'll give the book another shot later, I really do want to read it!

Welcome back Joanna. I truly hope that you can grow to enjoy a slower life and that your dream job comes soon! It's hard to have so many pressures coming in so many different directions. Sometimes I feel like the definition of being a woman means being all things to everyone.

Hugs!!

and yes, whatever you do, don't google image foot binding. You'll have nightmares. ;) Hope you enjoy the book, though.

Patty - I've definitely taken a liking to it!

Trish - Omg, ALL i wanted to do last night was google image foot binding. I didn't and I'm glad! The book got over that bit and I'm loving the story.

Larissa - Thanks!

I'm taking it slow as the children are on vacation , but I still manage to squeeze in a quick read from the wide variety of paperbacks I have stashed around the house and in the car.

Foot binding is something that gives me the heebie jeebies too.

Women's every belongings when they go outside are in their handbags. If they lose it, they lose everything they brought. Now, companies offer handbag insurance to cover for that so it would be a smart investment to apply for one.

I read that book some years ago and again earlier this year. Go on and get past the feet binding as painful as it is, the rest of the book is about a lifelong wonderful friendship!
